HUMAN JAZZ

This combination of talents has not been seen on the Island.

Christian Swenson’s “Human Jazz” (a fusion of dance/drama/music for body and voice) amazes as he adjusts his use of contortionism, dance, mime, voice control and comedic improvisation skills to whatever mood, age group, and enthusiasm level he finds in his audiences.

Christian says, “This is not a dance performance or a play, nor a musical concert, sacred ritual or a comedy show, yet it is in part all of these. In this improvising I am reaching into each oncoming moment with imagination, voice and body. There will be songs, poems and other containers of “real” language, but much of this dreaming will be beyond words. I am a shaper of energy.”

“I’ve never seen anything that even resembles this astonishing piece… his hands, body, feet everything is speaking in this “new tongue” in a fascinating fashion.” Bellevue Journal American

“Swenson is that rare soloist who can fill a stage, a mind, for a whole evening. He makes you feel you might be eavesdropping on genius.” The Seattle Times
